Lot 3030
Constantine II, as Caesar, 316-337. Follis (Bronze, 19 mm, 3.00 g, 7 h), Rome, circa 320. CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Constantine II to right. Rev. SAECVLI F-ELICITAS / P - R / R Q Wreath with AVG set on garlanded cippus. RIC 163 var. (unlisted officina). Extremely rare. Minor deposits and with areas of corrosion and a scrape on the reverse, otherwise, about very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, formed since 1969.

This extremely rare piece is one of only two known from officina Q. The officina letter is mostly off flan, but obverse and reverse die matches prove that the officina must be Q (this reverse die can be found on an example of Licinius I in the BM, London).
